Sifu Shue Yiu Kwan

Sifu Shue Yiu Kwan (9/18/1949 - 9/29/2017) was born in Canton, China, and has studied the martial arts for 40 years. He started his Kung Fu training at the age of 14, then began studying Aikido under a disciple of the Aikido founder, Morihei Uyeshiba. In 1968, Sifu Kwan came to the United States where he continued his martial arts training in Judo and Tae Kwon Do. In 1976 he enrolled in the Fu-Jow Pai Federation in New York's Chinatown as a student of the Grand Master Wai Hong. At this time, he concentrated all his efforts in mastering the Fu-Jow (Tiger Claw) system. In 1982, he became an instructor at Grand Master Wai Hong's school in Chinatown. One year later, he opened his first school in Pleasantville, NY.

Since 1983, Sifu Kwan taught traditional Fu-Jow Pai Kung Fu to interested students and has trained many tournament champions. In 1994, Sifu Kwan was elected the Vice President of the Eastern United States Kung Fu Federation. In addition to traditional classes, Sifu Kwan teaches Chinese Lion Dancing. His Lion Dance team has performed on cable TV and in many cultural events. In 1992, he performed the Lion Dance for New York's Mayor Dinkins in Gracie Mansion. Sifu Kwan sadly passed in 2017, this website is dedicated to his memory.
